Training in Deliverance
An Introduction
Beyond the will and timing of God, there are a number of factors that determine the outcome of an outreach including:
1) The willingness of saints to be used by God to preach the gospel.
2) The exercise of authority by the believer.
3) The receptiveness of the unbeliever or and their environment.
However, we will focus here on the second issue:
The exercise of authority by the believer.
Considering the size of the Old Testament,
demons are rarely mentioned and we believe that this is because
the ordinary believer could do little against them,
but with the arrival of Jesus Christ and Him receiving all authority
and then transferring that authority before His return to the Father
to His Apostles and then the body Christ , we can now bind and cast them out. Mark 16:17-18
Demons will use your weakness, and try to temp you in the wrong direction, so if you have anything around you that might help them with this, then it should go or you should remove yourself. Genesis 3:1-6. Secondly, any straying from your walk with God, can attract them. 1 Peter 5:6-9. God used the words He spoke to bring creation into existence. Genesis 1:3
Lucifer understood that those around him, chose and selected their words very carefully. There were no forbidden, vulgar or profane words. The use of words is very important for deliverance, healing and life in general. Matthew 12:36 . Let our hearts, minds and mouth be filled with God’s word.

Introduction to exercising spiritual authority
Over the past several years we began to notice that instead of deliverance and spiritual warfare producing positive results and freedom, in some cases it seemed to cause severe retaliation, both for the client and the therapist, especially in the highly complex clients that we have worked with for nearly 20 years. An examination of Jude 8-10 revealed that bringing “blasphemous judgment against higher level beings was not advisable.
Rather, “The Lord rebuke you” was a safer and more advisable response.
It is not that we do not have authority in the spiritual realm;
because of our union with Jesus Christ (Eph 2:6) we do have spiritual authority.
However, it is rather a matter of following the divine protocol in how we exercise that authority, at least for this present time.
According to Drs Jerry & Carol Robeson
There are 16 Strongmen ( see here ) that have authority over the different unclean spirits. Ephesians 6:11-12
Training in Deliverance
Please note
Of the 18 signs we have identified in the Gospel of Mark only 5
involved demons. Please let us err on the side of caution.
You might want to take the view,
to let those who require deliverance, ask for it.
This means that most cases are a matter of counselling
to pull down every stronghold of the mind that
exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
We should equip the counselee to renew their minds
by pointing them to those scriptures that answer their
circumstance and steer them away from those habits that
open doors that lead to contamination. Titus 3:5
All prayer should address the past, present and the future.
The power of the blood of Jesus Christ is eternal.
It is more often the case that the truth will set them free rather
than conducting deliverance. John 8:31
Demons normally react in some way to the presence of the
anointing. If a demon is present, you will normally know it within a relatively short space of time. Start by asking the counselee about the history of the condition, its signs and symptoms etc.
If it is helpful, here is a prayer of self deliverence
Recurring and long term problems of demonic activity?
“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45
A solution to recurring problems of demonic activity
Mark 9:17-29
17 Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. 18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
19 He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” 20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
And he said, “From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe,[a] all things are possible to him who believes.”
24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”
Is deliverance always instantaneous?
No. See Acts 16:16-18 . The demon left within an hour when the Apostle Paul ordered it out.
Community and national deliverance
To establish the kingdom of God on earth as a Christian soldier is not an act of war involving flesh and blood and the taking physical territory, but it is to effectively exercise influence the direction and execution of government in a disciplined way through prayer rooted in His eternal love to establish peace.
Further studies
On the Outreach Dates, there is some guidance about how we should go out, whilst on the Healing page, there is further support.
Beyond this, it is outside the scope of this website to give any further information; however, we would recommend some further study. Hosea 4:6
You could start with authors like Bill Subritzky and others with a lot of practical experience in this area. You could introduce this subject to a group with their Youtube videos.
During your outreach, the Holy Spirit will identify and lead you in all that you should do.
